It’s funny how people take full advantage of public transportation when they’re visiting another city but using it in our own stomping ground seems odd to many of us. I was in San Francisco this summer and rode both Muni and BART, two of their modes of transportation. There’s something to be said about being fully immersed in a town and riding along with people of the community to really feel connected to it. That’s something being a lone passenger in your own car bubble doesn’t share. Granted, the convenience of having your own vehicle is tough to beat, but having experienced other cities through their transit, it does make me wonder what perspectives we may missing along the way in our own backyard by not doing the same here.
